For the first time in the history of the Champions League for men, a female arbiter will lead a match. Stéphanie Frappart gets the scoop and has been appointed referee for next Wednesday's match Juventus-Dinamo Kiev.
The 36-year-old Frappart was already the first female referee in the French league, where she has already whistled eighteen games. The Frenchman made a big impression and UEFA noticed that too. This year, she was put in charge of the duel for the European Supercup (Liverpool-Chelsea) and she has already whistled three matches in the Europa League.
The Juventus of Matthijs de Ligt sits next to Dinamo Kiev in a group with FC Barcelona (Ronald Koeman and Frenkie de Jong) and Ferencváros and is already placed for the next round.
FC Barcelona and Juventus compete, with two more games to play, for first place in the group. Kiev and Ferencváros fight from which club ends third and moves on to the Europa League.
