Moderate Chelsea struggles for victory over West Ham and reports to the subtop

With a victory over West Ham United, Chelsea has rejoined the Premier League subtop. At Stamford Bridge Chelsea had it all but easy, but the London derby was still won 3-0.

After some tease from West Ham, Thiago Silva made it to the opening goal after ten minutes. The Brazilian defender was able to hit the ball uncovered in an overcrowded sixteen-metre area.

Chelsea then had the better of the game, but had to watch out for some outbreaks of West Ham. Chelsea striker Timo Werner was given the chance to double the score on the stroke of half time, but eye to eye with goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski failed the German.

After rest, West Ham insisted more and more. Chelsea, still without the injured Hakim Ziyech, had to do everything possible to defend the lead.

The deserved equalizer of the guests didn't make it and Tammy Abraham took the chances on the other one. With an intikker and a shot from a difficult corner the young striker made it 3-0 ten minutes ahead of time. The West Ham resistance was broken at the same time.

With the victory Chelsea climbs to fifth place. West Ham takes tenth place.
